What the CCF can decide

The Requests Chamber of the CCF examines requests concerning personal data processed in INTERPOL’s Information System. It assesses compliance with INTERPOL’s Constitution, Rules on the Processing of Data and other applicable rules.

The CCF is not a criminal court and does not determine guilt, retry the merits of the national case, decide extradition or give immigration advice. Its task is narrower: whether the international processing of the challenged data complies with INTERPOL’s legal framework.

Access, correction and deletion

  • Access: asks whether INTERPOL processes personal data about the applicant and what may be disclosed.
  • Correction: targets data that are inaccurate, incomplete or no longer current.
  • Deletion: asks that data be removed because their processing does not comply with INTERPOL’s rules.

An access request may be combined with a challenge where the available record already supports correction or deletion. Disclosure is not automatic: before providing information, the CCF consults the source of the data under Article 35 of its Statute.

Building a CCF deletion request

The application should present a disciplined chronology, identify the challenged data and connect each requested remedy to the documents supporting it. Relevant issues may include lawfulness, purpose, accuracy, proportionality, fundamental rights, neutrality and the notice-specific publication requirements.

The CCF generally works from written representations and documentation. National judgments, procedural decisions, contracts and financial materials should therefore be explained rather than simply attached. The central question is what each document proves about compliance with INTERPOL’s rules.

Identity documents and authority for a representative must also satisfy the admissibility requirements. The secure portal identifies the required fields and accepted file formats.

Procedure and timing

Since 26 March 2026, CCF requests must be submitted through its dedicated secure online portal, except where the Commission accepts exceptional circumstances. After admissibility, the CCF may seek additional information from the applicant, the data source, the General Secretariat or another relevant entity.

INTERPOL states that access requests should be decided within four months after being declared admissible, while correction and deletion requests should be decided within nine months after admissibility. These are procedural periods, not guaranteed completion dates for an individual matter.

Revision is not an ordinary appeal

There is no ordinary appellate procedure against a CCF decision. Article 42 of the CCF Statute permits an application for revision based on a newly discovered and relevant fact that could have led to a different conclusion. The applicant must act within six months of discovering that fact.

A disagreement with the earlier reasoning is not enough. The first step is to identify which facts are newly discovered, when it was discovered and why it could have changed the result.
